One of the most common neurological conditions affecting small animals is a prolapsed, or “slipped” disc. Discs are like shock absorbers, and are located between almost all of the bones of the neck and spine. When one of these discs deteriorates, it can press on the nerves of the spinal cord and cause severe pain, balance problems, urinary or fecal incontinence, and weakness or paralysis. This condition can be treated with medicine or surgery. Adding acupuncture to either of these therapies will get these pets back on their feet and feeling well again much faster. This combination is called integrative treatment.

There are several other neurological conditions in addition to disc disease that can be successfully treated with acupuncture.  Click here for more detailed information on Integrative Therapy for Neurological Conditions.
