Chronic renal failure (CRF) is a gradually progressive disease of the kidneys, and results in a significant decline in kidney function over time.  Initially this will cause your pet to drink and urinate a lot more than usual. However, it can eventually make him feel sick, resulting in decreased appetite and vomiting, weight loss, low red blood cell levels (anemia) and other problems.  It is most often seen in middle-aged or senior cats and dogs.

CRF can occur at any age due to a congenital condition, or as a consequence of permanent kidney damage after exposure to toxins, infection, or other insults to the kidneys.

Though we have no cure for CRF, integrative treatment including acupuncture and herbal medicine can significantly improve kidney function and reverse most of the  symptoms  This will help your pet start eating again, and get him back to feeling and acting more like himself for months or years.  Click here for more detailed information on Integrative Therapy for Kidney Disease.
